Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen

February 3, 2015

I’ve been wanting to try Wise Sons for a while, but since they aren’t in walking distance from my work I haven’t had the chance. However, this past Thursday I didn’t have lunch and got really excited when I remembered that they have a stand at the Ferry Building Farmers’ Market on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Shut-Up-and-Give-it-to-Me-Quick Version:

My sandwich was delicious!

The I-Like-to-be-Wrapped-Up-in-All-the-Details Version:

I took lunch a little early to beat the huge work crowd and it worked! I got to their booth right before twelve and there were only three people ahead of me. I ordered and got my sandwich within two minutes.

What I ate:

  • Pastrami Reuben ($13)

All the employees were really nice and when I asked the guy taking my order if I made a good choice, he quickly smiled and said it was his favorite (that was very reassuring). I walked to 3 Embarcadero building to sit down and I must say that the sandwich itself looked very appealing. A lady even backtracked to ask me where I ordered it from.

The first bite exposed a delicious sandwich with crunchy bread, peppery pastrami, and cheese that was melted to perfection. The sandwich also had cole slaw which added a great tanginess and a relish that was a bit sweet and contrasted the cole slaw nicely. I liked that the pastrami was just the right texture and didn’t have too much fat. The last bites of the sandwich have a very peppery kick to it, although I really enjoyed it, I can see it being a bit overwhelming for some. All in all it was a great sandwich that I would definitely order again!
