Scrumptious Cafe Bakery

The Shut-Up-and-Give-it-to-Me-Quick Version:
Orgasmic.
One of the best breakfast places I have been to in a while (everything was delicious)! Great French toast, cute location and friendly service.
The I-Like-to-be-Wrapped-Up-in-All-the-Details Version:Off the main street, this adorable cafe is a little hidden, but once you get there you’ll love it. It’s quaint and peaceful. With minimal indoor seating and a great patio, we chose the latter. The service was great and all our food was delicious. I loved the location and the vibe, I didn’t feel too close to any other table and my overall experience was great!

What we ate:

  • Strawberry mint lemonade ($4.95)
  • Blackberry mint lemonade ($4.95)
  • Turkey avocado bacon grilled cheese ($10.95)
  • Bruschetta avocado sandwich ($9.95)
  • Huevos rancheros ($10.95)
  • Banana stuffed French toast ($10.95)
  • Broiche French toast ($9.95)

Pictured above are the strawberry and blackberry mint lemonade, these were delicious! They are on the sweeter side -with the blackberry being the sweeter of the two – but they are refreshing and very tasty!

This is more of a club sandwich than a grilled cheese, but it’s delicious nonetheless. I liked that the bacon was very crispy (there’s nothing worse than flimsy bacon in a sandwich) and it had all the right ingredients!

The bruschetta avocado sandwich was very tasty, but probably my least favorite. It’s pretty basic and just a little messy. The balsamic seems to make the bread soggy which makes picking it up a bit difficult. Great taste, I just wouldn’t order it as my meal.

My mom ordered the huevos rancheros and they were delicious! The taste was just right and it had an authentic flavor. When I order dishes like this in other restaurants I usually expect the super Americanized version, but I am happy to report that this has a great flavor. I was pleasantly surprised.

Everything on the menu looked amazing, but as you know I am a French toast addict and I couldn’t pass it up. The only problem was that they had 2 – while nutellas and bananas sounded like a dream, I was a little apprehensive because too much nutella and it’s a bit sickening and normally every time a restaurant pairs bananas with French toast, they are mushy and unappetizing. Well, I am here to tell you that Scrumptious Cafe Bakery exceeds all expectations and delivers a kick-ass French toast. The perfect stuffing ratio, amazing cream and just the right sweetness. I was loving this and while it is filling, you can eat the whole thing and not feel sick (I did pass on a few bites to my sister because depriving her of the taste would be unfair). I’m glad the waitress (who by the way was super sweet the entire time I was going back and forth trying to decide which French toast would be mine for the meal) talked this up because it was worth every bite (and calorie)!

This is the other French toast – same bread (brioche) minus the stuffing and topped with berries. I’m normally all about the berries and while this was delicious, I definitely prefer the banana and nutella version. It was more moist and flavorful. The berry is a great lighter alternative, but I would highly suggest you treat yourself to the banana one.We also ordered the carrot cake (not pictured) and it was delicious! OMG the best I’ve had in a LONG time, if not ever! You must try it… now!

My whole family loved their meal (that says something because 5 different people loving the same place isn’t as common as it sounds), the ambiance and the service. I had a great experience at this new LA addition and I can’t wait to go back 🙂
