The Shut-Up-and-Give-it-to-Me-Quick Version:

Bar with a great atmosphere, outdoor seating and yummy small plates.

The I-Like-to-be-Wrapped-Up-in-All-the-Details Version:

From the moment I walked in, I loved the decor – modern Victorian with the cutest seating. There are multiple areas and nooks to sit, including outdoor seating with a fire pit. I immediately noticed how nice the people were. Our waiter greeted us with a smile and was very attentive the entire time.

The food, while more upscale than your usual bar food, is still just small plates. You can get full, but you’ll have to order quite a few things. I liked the variety of their menu and their drinks are beer and wine only. They have a good selection of both although I was hoping to see local beers.

Mon – Wed  4 pm – 12 am

Thurs – Sat  4 pm – 1 am
Sun 4 pm – 10 pm

What we ate:

  • Brussels sprouts ($6)
  • Tuna ceviche tacos ($6)
  • Seafood dumplings ($8)
  • Yard burger ($13)

These brussels sprouts were delicious! Super crispy and very lemon-y – they were just the way I like them. This was a make-sure-you-get-every-last-bite dish. The bacon added flavor, but was not very obvious (which was nice) and the aerated fraiche added the perfect creaminess!
Oh my these tacos were delicious. They’re a bit of a tease, so I highly suggest getting at least 2 orders. These were seriously amazing! If I was nitpicking I would say that the strawberry sometimes overpowered the other ingredients. Besides that, these were pretty perfect. The shell was crispy and the tuna, watermelon radish and avocado cream were a dream team! (I should get bonus points for three rhyming words!) I loved these tacos – the only thing I have left to say is “keep ’em coming!”

The seafood dumplings were good, but I wouldn’t say they were as good as the tacos. The flavor got better the more I ate, but I wasn’t a huge fan. Don’t get me wrong they weren’t bad they just didn’t deliver a wow factor. The dumplings did have a lot of flavor which was nice, but I would’ve preferred more tacos 🙂

This burger is delicious, but I honestly thought it tasted just like a Super Duper burger. I love Super Duper burgers, but I had different expectations for this Yard burger since it has bone marrow aioli. I thought it would pack a ton of flavor and have a really unique taste. I couldn’t distinguish the bone marrow at all and while it was good, I think I’m less excited because I know if I walk a block down Chestnut St., I can get the same thing for 1/2 the price. That’s a bit blunt, but I mean it in the nicest way. I thought it tasted great, I just expected something more.

While I won’t head over for the food specifically, I will definitely be back. A glass of wine (or two) and some dessert sound like a great idea in that atmosphere. It’s worth checking out! Oh and don’t forget to try the tacos!!!
