The Shut-Up-and-Give-it-to-Me-Quick Version:
Great ambiance, nice view, good drinks and great service.
The I-Like-to-be-Wrapped-Up-in-All-the-Details Version:
Finally noticed this roof top bar on Sunset and was very pleased with the whole experience (minus the parking: read details below). The seating area occupies only the top level of this building, feels super cozy and is a great spot on Sunset Blvd where you can actually hold a conversation, sit and enjoy. The music isn’t too loud and even with a full house – the ambiance still felt relaxed and not overly crowded.
The staff was friendly from the get-go and even though we showed up during a busy time without a reservation – they moved stuff around and got us a table.
Parking situation: It is worth mentioning that we arrived around 3 pm and they have a huge back lot for parking. We parked and then asked the hostess at Pearl’s if we were okay or if we had to pay. She said we were fine until 5 pm when it becomes valet – so we didn’t worry. However, when we got back to our cars at 4 pm there was a man demanding money and not just a few bucks, he wanted $20 dollars! While it may have been our faults – there were signs (albeit NOT that noticeable and placed high above eye level on the back wall) Pearl’s should also know the drill. It just kind of leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth. Our whole experience was great and then I have some guy chasing me down for parking money that’s TWENTY DOLLARS! This is LA… not SF! And it’s in the middle of the day for an hour in a parking lot that’s supposed to cater to Pearl’s customers.
What we drank:
- Mimosa Kit ($40)
I loved this mimosa kit – I think it’s such a great idea! The kit comes with their own brand of champagne, passion fruit, strawberry and orange juice, and a bowl of berries. The presentation was also very cute. Everything was great except for the strawberry juice, it was more of a chunky syrup so it didn’t mix with the champagne as well as the others. The whole thing was great and I really enjoy it 🙂
I will definitely be back to try some of their cocktails. I will also have to arrive a little hungrier so I can take advantage of their brunch – served from 11 am to 4 pm (reservations are accepted). If you go, the French toast looked great!
