Mateo’s Ice Cream & Fruit Bars

October 27, 2015

The Shut-Up-and-Give-it-to-Me-Quick Version:

A plethora of delicious flavors in a setting that mimics a traditional Mexican paleteria – I LOVED IT!

The I-Like-to-be-Wrapped-Up-in-All-the-Details Version:

Mateo’s is a dream come true, this super colorful shop offers a wide range of flavors. I am particularly excited to share this with you because they have a TON of traditional Mexican flavors. For those of you ever craving guava, sapote, tamarindo, or pretty much any other fruit, they have it. Mateo’s has ice cream and popsicles and they are both extremely delicious! They have three locations in the LA area so take your pick and get there quick!

What we ate:

  • Guava popsicle ($2.25)
  • Cucumber with chile popsicle ($2.25)

Look at all those colors! You honestly can’t be sad when you enter this place. I decided to get the cucumber with chile and Dennis got the guava (our current obsession). I’m literally still dreaming about these and waiting for this weekend when I’m back in LA so I can get another fix (consider this my drug of choice). The cucumber one had a great kick and the real bits of cucumber were super refreshing, perfect for the never ending 90 degree days. The guava was perfect – super flavorful and extra scrumptious! Honestly, you need to give this place a try!
