Some of the best tacos in LA and they’re open until 3 a.m.
On our frequent road trips to LA, Dennis and I always find ourselves talking about Leo’s Tacos. They are open super late and it’s delicious! There are several locations, but I always find myself at the one on South La Brea and Venice. There is always a line, but stick it out because it usually goes by pretty quickly. With that said though, make sure you order everything you want because you’re not going to want to get back in line. Also, always order more than you think you need (you’ll thank me later). The area isn’t the most glamorous, but there is always a security guard in the parking lot so don’t worry too much.
What I ate:
- Al pastor tacos
- Cabeza taco
Living in the Bay Area I miss the simple pleasures of good street tacos. I just feel like they are not as easily accessible as LA (if you know any must-trys, I am always open to suggestions). Leo’s always hits the spot! There are a few in LA that I am fond of, but you can’t beat the late night hours. Leo’s specializes in Al Pastor tacos (the meat shown in the first two pictures and the tacos on the right in the 3rd picture), they have it set up just like real taco stands in Mexico (pineapple and all). They slice your meat for you on the spot and put a slice of pineapple on top. The last picture is the cabeza tacos (head) and while it sounds a little adventurous and maybe even gross, it’s delicious! But don’t worry, if you’re not into the whole “I like every part of the cow” movement, they have more simple options like carne asada. While I haven’t tried it, I hear their simple bean and cheese tacos are good (don’t worry my veggie-friends I haven’t forgotten about you). They also make a great quesadilla and PLEASE don’t forget to mosey on over to their salsa cart – the green salsa is great!Just a tip: the tacos come with 2 tortillas (these by the way are the smaller tortillas), but I always ask for one because I find it pointless to fill up on just bread, so I always opt for another taco and just ask for single tortilla on all.
