The Shut-Up-and-Give-it-to-Me-Quick Version:
Good food, great drinks and even better service. For my LA readers, they have a Santa Monica location!
The I-Like-to-be-Wrapped-Up-in-All-the-Details Version:
I’ve been living in Larkspur for 2.5 years and in the general Marin area even longer and I’ve never managed to visit Farmshop. But alas, I made it there before the holidays. The decor is pretty simple and even though we walked in pretty early on in the night, the restaurant was packed. It gets pretty loud inside, but I didn’t feel like we had to yell in order to hear each other. Reservations are definitely needed if you are more than two people and don’t want to wait. We got lucky and nabbed the last booth behind the bar. All bar stools and tables behind the bar are first come, first served.
The one thing I really liked was how amazing the service was. Story to prove it: We ordered a pizza and it comes with scissors since it’s uncut. The scissors were on Dennis’ side of the table, I reached over and grabbed it. However, I didn’t know that they aren’t held together like most, the two sides detach rather easily so sure enough one side fell and hit my water glass. The glass broke broke and within 10 seconds, no joke, a bus boy was at my table. He not only quickly cleaned up my mess, but brought us a new pizza (there was nothing visibly wrong with ours). It’s the extra care he took and how nice he was that really made a difference.

What we ate/drank:
- After Ferry ($14)
- California Tomatoes Pizza ($18)
- Roasted Jidori Chicken ($28)
This cocktail, After Ferry, was delicious! It wasn’t too sweet, but the alcohol wasn’t the star either (which if you know me, I like). Refreshing, tasty and very smooth.
If you got through my whole spiel above, you know we got two pizzas. I have to admit the first one was better. The second didn’t have as much taste. It’s good, but not 1 of the best I’ve had.
The chicken was very good. It was super moist and the outside was crispy (just the way I like it). The toasted farro, chestnuts, pickled cranberries and almond sauce went really well together and added a pop of flavor that really set this dish apart.
