Donut Alley

November 19, 2014

The Shut-Up-and-Give-it-to-Me-Quick Version:

Some of the best doughnuts I have tried! A true larkspur gem. (Beware: Closed Mondays… otherwise open from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m.)

The I-Like-to-be-Wrapped-Up-in-All-the-Details Version:

Donut Alley is a small place and easy to miss because it is off the main street, in an alley (hint the name). They definitely have a loyal following; there are usually a lot of adults that frequent this place on the weekdays before work and on the weekends it is filled with parents and their kids. The staff is super friendly and you’re always greeted with a smile.

What I ate:

  • Maple bacon doughnut

Amazing! Donut Alley has made my time in Larkspur that much sweeter. I have tried many of their doughnuts and ALL are delicious! It is actually here where I gained my love for cake doughnuts. Their raised doughnuts are amazing, but their cake ones definitely set themselves apart. The maple bacon, in particular, is great. I love the sweet and salty combination! Their bacon is cooked well and the maple is not too sweet. The flavors complement each other really well and the dough is made just right. The result is a perfectly moist, slightly crispy bite of heaven. And if you need an excuse, your essential breakfast food groups are present (kind of).

Other doughnuts I’ve tried and would recommend: chocolate raised, buttermilk glazed, chocolate cake, maple raised, and glazed raised (I love when things rhyme).
