I know this is a chain, but the location in Laguna Beach feels very local and the view is gorgeous. Plus, you can’t pass up a great shake! The I-Like-to-be-Wrapped-Up-in-All-the-Details Version:
While in LA for 4th of July weekend, my family, Dennis and I decided to head to Laguna Beach. After some traffic and a VERY intense alphabet game (I won!!! – trying to find Z is not an easy feat) we spotted this little shack. It’s kind of in the middle of nowhere right off the street – it was busy and we made a mental note to find out what it was. I’ll fill you in… when I say we went to Laguna Beach – just like any getaway my family and I take – I really mean that we ate at Laguna Beach haha. When we got there we headed straight to Javier’s (our usual LB dining spot – review coming soon) and then the beach – my sister’s friend (oh hey Rachel) grew up there so she took us to a local spot. Over dinner she mentioned how great Ruby’s Shake Shack was (the little shack we saw earlier), so we decided to make it our last stop.
The restaurant has become pretty popular, especially on the weekends, and with such a small parking lot expect a short wait. It’s very orderly, a line forms and as people leave, you park and then enjoy your shakes. I highly recommend sitting down because the view is amazing! We arrived at sunset and you get a front row seat to watch the sun going down against the backdrop of palm trees and waves.
What we drank:
- Shakes ($5.49)
We ordered strawberry, banana, and oreo. My favorite, by far, was the banana. They were all really good and very rich, but the banana was probably one of the best I’ve tried. They weren’t too sweet, they were the perfect ending to a great day!
