Comforts

The Shut-Up-and-Give-it-to-Me-Quick Version:

Orgasmic.
Amazing French toast and great eggs benedict.

The I-Like-to-be-Wrapped-Up-in-All-the-Details Version:

Last weekend a few friends and I headed over to have a cozy breakfast at Comforts. While this definitely rounds out my list of favorite French toasts in Marin, I have seriously lacked in the sharing department and, for no reason at all, failed to write about this little gem. A staple in the San Anselmo community, I don’t think it gets enough love from everyone else. It’s always busy, but service is attentive and I don’t ever wait too long.

What we ate:

  • Pecan crusted stuffed French toast ($11.95)
  • Crab cakes benedict ($14.95)

Thoughts?

Look at that bread – it’s got all the makings of a great French toast: pecan crusted, cinnamon challah, sweetened cream cheese and blue berries. This is definitely filling and oh so delicious! It’s not too sweet and it’s a perfect way to start your weekend. I will be adding this to my post of best French toast in Marin.

I’m one of those people who needs to have breakfast and trust me on the days that I have to go straight into lunch, I’m not happy about it. I always like to start off with something egg-y or sweet – granted my definition of breakfast is loose (dessert definitely counts as breakfast), but it works for me. Usually crab cakes doesn’t make the approved breakfast list, but Comforts has proven that they can whip up something unconventional that will make even this girl ooh and ahh in delight! The flavor is just perfect! It’s not fishy and the egg and hollandaise sauce are a perfect complement. You can’t go wrong with it and I highly suggest ditching your regular benedicts for this seriously worthy upgrade!

The crab cake benedicts are only available during weekend brunch, but they always have a benedict option.
