Choux

August 4, 2015
The Shut-Up-and-Give-it-to-Me-Quick Version:
Winner. (The chounut was orgasmic!)
I love this little bakery – great cream puffs and AMAZING chounuts!

The I-Like-to-be-Wrapped-Up-in-All-the-Details Version:A few weeks ago I made it to Choux and am so happy I did! This small French bakery serves up the cutest and tastiest cream puffs. The owner, Laura, is super involved and very sweet. She has put great detail and thought into her product. Each puff is named after someone who has helped her along the way.

The location is take out only and offers up permanent and seasonal flavors. They offer 1 chounut – a donut made with puff pastry and filled with cream – that changes daily.

Hours
Mon – Sun  10:30 am – 6:30 pm

What we ate:

  • Box of 12 ($30 or $2.50 each)
  • Chounut ($4.50)
  • Hot chocolate ($5.25)

These little treats are delicious! I tried Sofie (chocolate filling, chocolate icing), Paul (vanilla custard), Rachel (pistachio custard), Elise (chocolate custard, coconut shavings), Perry (hazelnut custard, milk chocolate), Sunny (lemon curd, meringue), Berny (coffee custard), Lara (passion fruit curd, white chocolate), Sarah (key lime and yuzu curd, Italian meringue and coconut), and Noa (cherry pie).My favorites:
Noa
Sarah
Sunny
Lara
Perry – this was my favorite out of all of them. It tasted like Ferrero Rocher and I was in love!

These little guys are made from leftover dough and make for a simple and airy treat with your morning coffee or tea. I personally would opt for the real thing, but these are an easy little snack.

My mind was blown when I tried this, it’s honestly one of the best desserts I have had in a while. Graham cracker flavored and filled with cream (it tasted like Speculoos cookie butter, but better). This is a must try, with new flavors almost every day – I’m contemplating making Choux part of my daily routine.
